Some of our services are led by Lay people and Holy Communion may be "by Extension" led by one of our licensed Readers or Elders using bread and wine formerly consecrated by a priest.

Apart from during August, there is a said Holy Communion service at 8.45am on the first, third and fifth Sundays (5th Sunday is Book of Common Prayer) lasting about 30-45 minutes.

Our main service is at 10.30am on Sunday morning and varies as follows:

  • Memorial Hall - Salford PriorsOn the first Sunday of every month (except August & October) it is a Village Praise service held at the Memorial Hall in the village lasting about an hour and is less formal and includes some more modern worship and often different  service formats

St Matthew's Church building

  • The second and fourth Sundays are Holy Communion in the church lasting about 75-90 minutes with separate teaching in groups for young people.
  • The third Sunday is a Family Service often with drama, stories and interactivity - held in St Matthew's lasting about 45 minutes.
  • When there is a fifth Sunday we usually hold a Group Unity Service for all the Heart of England Parishes in one of the churches in the group.

At St Matthew's, parents of young children and babies can take them into the Church Room if they wish and still be able to hear the service, although we are used to children and welcome having them in church with us.

Coffee, tea, squash and biscuits are usually served after the 10.30am services.

Our dress code is very informal and relaxed
