Ministry Leadership Team (MLT)

MLT on an Away Day with Rural Dean, Richard Deimel

MLT Away Day in 2009

Kate Cocker, Roger Huggins, Wendy Shaddick, Pete Waring, Joyce Lewis, Greg Hallett, Mick Cocker, Andy Martin, Richard Deimel (Rural Dean) & Kevin Grumball

Our Ministry Leadership Team is a group of lay members called out from our congregations, approved by the PCCs, and commissioned by the Bishop. Together with the Associate Minister and 2 of our Readers, they work in collaboration with the Vicar and PCCs to oversee the pastoral and leadership work of the old group of "Five Alive" Churches. As well as discerning the need and direction of ministry and mission, they are all involved with leading services and preaching and also have  particular areas of individual responsibility. All have the bishop's permission to take Communion by Extension.

 Mick Cocker  Mick Cocker

Mick is married to Kate and has been a Reader at St Matthew's for a number of years.

Mick, as a Reader, is involved with leading services and preaching as well as having a passion for Evangelism.

 Kate Cocker  Kate Cocker

Kate (her words in brackets) moved from her home town of Nottingham to live in Salford Priors 10 years ago – (wow where did that time go?!) She has been married to Mick for a whopping 30+ years – (that’s quite a miracle in itself; thank you Lord!!) They have three great children, two sons-in-law and  one new grand-daughter, (who is gorgeous). They are almost “empty nesters” as they say but have decided that the kids fly the nest but not the bank account - but they love them whatever!

Kate loves good food and wine, especially when shared with friends and family... she enjoys holidays whenever and wherever... and tries to enjoy going to the gym regularly. She loves walking and exploring this lovely part of the world in which she now lives.

Kate is involved with Marriage Preparation and Outreach/Evangelism.

 Kevin Grumball  Kevin Grumball

Kevin is married to Charlotte and has five children, which ought to be enough for anyone (he says). However, he has far more interests than he has time to pursue them, which is why he is so interested in the possibility of eternal life. He plays hockey every week, which he says is not a sensible thing at his age, but it helps channel his competitive spirit somewhat. He also writes, acts and does the lighting for various bits of drama. Finally, Kevin wastes an inordinate amount of time on the internet, arguing with people whom he has never met and telling them why Jesus is important.

Kevin is a Churchwarden at Temple Grafton and is now an Ordinand preparing for ordination as an Ordained Local Minister. He leads services and preaches.

  Greg Hallett  Greg Hallett

Greg is married to Julie and they have 3 teenage sons. He has been a lifelong Nottingham Forest supporter and still plays football and golf when his knees don’t hurt too much. He enjoys music and films and would recommend “Inside Man” as the best Bank Robbery Film ever!

Greg is on the preaching team and is involved with Nurturing new Christians and also for Outreach via sport.

Roger Huggins  Roger Huggins

Roger enjoys playing tennis and badminton, walking, gardening and travelling. As a volunteer he is the Transport Manager for Badminton England at their major international events, notably the All England Championships held in Birmingham every year and the European and World Championships when they are held in England. He is married to Dianne and they have two married sons and one grandson.

Roger is one of the Churchwardens at Salford Priors and the Parish Administrator.

Joyce Lewis  Joyce Lewis

Joyce enjoys cross-stitch, calligraphy and arm-chair bird-watching.  She and Jim have been married fro over 50 years and have a grown-up son and daughter and two lovely grand-daughters. Having served as a missionary in Africa for many years, Joyce has a deep knowledge and love of scripture and Bible based teaching.

Joyce is involved with encouraging Bible reading and oversight of Homegroups.

Andy Martin   Andy Martin

Andy is a Reader; he is married to Lizette and they have young twin girls and a baby daughter, who keep them both very busy. Andy enjoys leading Family Services and involving children in the worship.

As a Reader Andy is involved with leading services and preaching.

Wendy Shaddick  Wendy Shaddick

Wendy taught History at a local secondary school for fifteen years and now tutors for the Dyslexia Association.  She enjoys visiting places of historical interest and reading and is actively involved in the Bidford History Society. She is married to Mark and they have two grown up daughters.

Wendy organises the "Open the Book" project and also oversees the youth work. She is involved in the bereavement ministry and is licensed to take funerals.

Pete Waring  Peter Waring

Pete is a lifelong Baggies (WBA) fan (armchair these days) and has many interests including amateur operatics, travelling and spending time reading in the sun in Spain. A founder member of the Village Meddlers he has appeared in all but two of their shows. He is an avid visitor to antique fairs and also enjoys gardening, although these days he enjoys the fruits of the labour rather than the work itself. He has been married to Jean for over 36 years and has five children and eight grandchildren.

As churchwarden for Exhall, Pete shares responsibility for Exhall and Wixford where he leads services and preaches.
